If you’d like to transfer a domain from one domain registrar to another, you will need to go through a few security steps. One of them is obtaining a special EPP authorization code from the present domain name registrar – on the condition that you are the domain registrant, since the code is sent to the owner's email and no one else can get it. You have to give this code to the new registrar company, otherwise they won’t be able to begin the domain name transfer process. The EPP codes are case-sensitive and may include numbers or special symbols such as commas or dots, which can be easily miswritten, so make sure you copy & paste the correct code. As an extra protection measure, the transfer code for a domain may be reset regularly. Some registrars call this code a domain password, a domain secret or an Auth key as well.

EPP Transfer Protection in Hosting

In case you’ve got a domain registered through our company and you’ve got a hosting account with us, getting its EPP code is surprisingly easy. You will not need to switch between different admin panels, since you can manage all your domain names via the same Hepsia Control Panel, which is used to manage your hosting account. You will see all registered domain names the moment you sign in and on the right side of the domain names whose extensions require an EPP transfer code in order to be transferred, you will notice a mini EPP icon. All it takes to obtain that code is to click the icon. The code is always sent to the domain name registrant’s email account, so in case the one that you shared initially is not valid any longer, you can modify it with several clicks from the exact same section.

EPP Transfer Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you have registered a domain name that you wish to transfer, you can obtain the EPP transfer code amazingly easy through the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you will manage both your account and your domains. If you go to the Registered Domains section, you will find an EPP icon on the right side of your domains, on the condition that their TLD extensions support transfers between domain name registrars with such a code. All codes are emailed automatically by our system to the registrant’s email to make sure that only the owner of the domain can receive this information. In case the currently entered email address is not valid anymore, you can change it with several clicks of the mouse without leaving this Control Panel section. The update is instantaneous, so you’ll be able to request the EPP code for the given domain name right away.
