Every single registered domain has at least 2 Name Server records that show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain to the servers of a particular hosting provider. That way, you have both your site and your e-mails managed by the very same provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there is a variety of other records, for example A and MX. The former reveals which server manages the website for a given domain address and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one shows which server handles the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, when you type a domain name in your Internet browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you could be sent to the servers of a different company in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having independent records for the site and the e-mails means that you may have your website and your e-mails with two different providers if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with each and every hosting that we offer, will enable you to view, change and set up A and MX records for each domain name or subdomain within your account. Through the DNS Records section, you're going to be able to view a list of all hosts inside the account from a to z with their related records, so any update isn't going to take you more than a couple of mouse clicks. Setting up new records is just as simple if, for instance, you want to use the email services of another provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default two. Additionally you can set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. In other words, when your emails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it is going to contact the next one. Through our sophisticated tool, you're going to be able to handle the records of your domain addresses and subdomains effortlessly even when you have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you acquire a semi-dedicated server plan from our company, you'll be able to view and edit the A and MX records for each of the domain names or subdomains that you host in the account. The Hepsia Control Panel, which you'll get to manage the account, offers an advanced, though easy-to-use tool in which all hosts will be listed in alphabetical order and you're going to be able to modify their records with no more than several mouse clicks. If you have to create a new record, it's going to be equally easy - select the domain/subdomain, type in the IP address or mail server record and you're going to be ready. You'll also be able to set different priority for the MX records you create in case that you decide to use a third-party e-mail provider and they ask you to set up additional records other than the 2 default ones. If you encounter any difficulties, you will find a comprehensive Help section with videos in which you can see first-hand how to create or edit any record.
